Our Poultry


Our whole chickens are supplied by J.W. Diaper & Sons of Stowmarket, a family firm who has been in the poultry business for some 95 years with a good ethos and the creed of “Quality not Quantity”. When we buy the whole birds, we can utilise so many variations of cuts that can be available. The roasting Chickens get many comments about the excellent flavour, “just like they used to be”.

Free Range Turkeys

Since I have been in business more than 20 years now, our free-range Christmas Turkeys have come from Robert Garner of Godwick Turkeys at Tittleshall. They have been supplying Norfolk with great tasting Turkeys for over 50 years. These Turkeys are bred to mature slowly over a six-month period and are free to roam, eat, drink and sleep whenever they choose. They are fed on a GM free diet with no additives or growth promoters and because this process has been perfected over a period of many years, the flavour has developed and is recognisable to the consumer. All the Christmas Turkeys are hung for a minimum of 14 days to mature in the traditional way, then dry plucked by hand. This will give an excellent finish to the appearance. The meat will be rich, succulent and tasty. Norfolk has a long-standing tradition of producing great tasting turkeys, so we aim to carry that forward.
